Yanone Kaffeesatz

Yanone Kaffeesatz was first published in 2004 and is the first completed font by Yanone. Its bold style recalls the typography of 1920s coffee shops, while the thinner styles bridge the gap to the present. Lacking confidence and knowledge of the type scene, Yanone decided to publish the family for free under a Creative Commons License. A decision that has proven to be one of the best he ever made. To date, it has been downloaded over 100,000 times, and you can witness the use of Kaffeesatz in German gyms with fresh water, in advertising campaigns of shopping malls in Dubai, and in New Zealand's McDonald's promotions. And, of course, in coffee and food packaging and café designs around the world.
